WPA Post Office Construction 1940
In 1935, the American New Deal Agency created the Works Project Administration (WPA) to employ job-seekers to carry out public works. Of these projects, the Post Office in Hamilton Texas was designed and constructed in 1940. Additionally, our Post office is proud to be the recipient of an original mural painted by one of the WPA artists, as part of the WPA’s directive to secure artwork for public buildings.
